Emmy award-winning producer Glenda Hersh is the co-president and co-CEO of True Entertainment and Original Media, two of television’s leading producers of unscripted programming. Hersh co-founded True Entertainment in 2000, alongside business and producing partner Steven Weinstock. The mega-successful True was acquired by Endemol Shine North America in 2003, and in 2015, Hersh (and Weinstock) also assumed the helm of Original Media (also an Endemol Shine company). Hersh and Weinstock now lead all creative, development, programming and operations for both companies.
Hersh is a leader and innovator of reality TV. Helping pioneer and define the industry, her legacy includes producing diverse hits across myriad genres and networks. As a producer, she has won multiple Emmys and created franchises in nearly every unscripted genre, including documentary, docusoap, competition, adventure, lifestyle, non-fiction and how-to.
Dedicated to the craft of storytelling, Hersh is committed to creating unscripted shows that have the narrative feel and emotional impact of fiction, as well as the realism and grit of the documentary form. Previously, Hersh was a principal in The New York Times-owned New York Times Television and its precursor, Video News International. During her four years at NYT Television, she developed and produced hundreds of highly acclaimed reality and documentary programs, helping usher in a new era for non-fiction television. Among these were Trauma: Life in the ER and ESPN’s The Season, as well as highly rated reality series Police Force, Paramedics and Maternity Ward, all for TLC.
Hersh’s shows have earned a total of three Emmy awards and ten Emmy nominations.
